Robert Scully said - OK so now we need a plan, an organizing committee and a contact list to send out inquirys to, so we can see how many have an interest. I can do a lot of local investigating for hotels, and the like, to establish a month when the hotels are reasonable.

OK so now we need a plan, an organizing committee and a contact list (emails) to send out inquiries to, so we can see how many have an interest. I can do a lot of local investigating for hotels, and the like, to establish a month when the hotels are reasonable for the event.

I suggest we need one coordinator or more from the years 1960 –1970 to help develop the scope/game/events/hotels etc.

Getting to Vero Beach, Florida

The following came from this site http://indian-river.fl.us/living/transport.html

Flying In?
Vero Beach and Sebastian each have muncipal airports that are open to general aviation traffic. If you are flying in by private plane, please don't depend on high density or skyscrapers to guide your way. More likely you'll just see the sea, the river and lots of tree tops!

Commercial air service is available from Melbourne, (located 25 miles north of Sebastian), Orlando or West Palm Beach.

One if by land...
Interstate 95 and U.S. 1 both provide north/south travelers access to the eastern side of the county on the mainland. Route A1A runs the entire length of the barrier island, from Brevard County in the north (Sebastian Inlet) to St. Lucie County in the south (north of the Ft. Pierce Inlet).

Two if by Sea...
The Indian River Lagoon, a part of the Intracoastal waterway, is the "access by sea". Cruise on in from either the Sebastian or Ft. Pierce Inlets. To make life easier on both yachtsmen and motorists, a new high span bridge opened in Vero Beach in the summer of 1995 replacing the drawbridge.

Our county is sometimes discovered by international or out-of-state yachtsmen who arrive via the Indian River. It's been known to happen that some who put into port for a night fall under the spell of our area and become part-time or permanent residents.

About Vero Beach

In addition to its beaches and waters for swimming, scuba diving, boating, fishing, and other water sports, Indian River County's parks offer countless opportunities for recreation and enjoying the outdoors. Five public golf courses allow for all levels of play and tennis facilities are widely available. We have a host of museums, theaters, restaurants, night spots, and shopping areas, and you have the makings for an incomparable vacation.

The above will take you to our chamber. They have lots of data on the community. I decided, as they have already compiled everything you want to know about our area, you should go to the source.

"With a quality of life unique even to Florida, Indian River County is where lifestyle and work style unite to create a highly productive and profitable environment. Our Indian River County Chamber of Commerce is a county-wide organization representing the business community by providing services, benefits, and leadership for positive growth. We serve all of Indian River County including Vero Beach, Sebastian, Indian River Shores, Fellsmere, Wabasso, and the Town of Orchid."
